Just FYI

We got into a car accident yesterday. My sister is up here to visit for my fall break and here's what happened.

My sister, two roommates, and I were in a car accident yesterday on the freeway. I was driving in the right lane heading towards westphalia, MI and a car was just PARKED in the middle of the lane. No lie. There was no shoulder on the road and, apparently, this woman's truck had broken down so there it was, just parked in a lane on a 70 mph high way. I noticed it in time and stopped without hitting the truck, thankfully. However, the car behind us was not paying as much attention, rear-ended us going at least 50mph, and pushed us into the truck. Thankfully we were in big car so we were not squished. Everyone is ok, though, including those in the car behind us. Which is a miracle because they were in a teenie car and their airbags deployed and everything.

But everyone's ok. No one hit their head or any other body part. The car, for what happened, had minimal damage, and we are all alive. So that's good.

Just thought you'd want to know. And you'd get mad if I didn't tell you.

Much love!

Ah, True Blood. How I am strangely attracted to thee. I just finished watching the first season. Wonderful and yet really not wonderful at the same time. Either way, I know I'll keep watching because a) I have it "free" on HBO and b) it's like a train wreck, you don't want to watch but you have to.

Classes: Holy hot dogs, I am so busy. I cannot believe how quickly the semester has started. It's only the second week of class and I am drowning in work to do. I have 17 credits this semester, in addition to a job, amazin' blue, and being the President of CMENC. AHHHHHHHHH! It really doesn't help that amazin' blue rehearses from 10:00pm-12:00am tuesdays and thursdays. It's really quite ridiculous. That's prime homework time, people!!!! The class are going well, but there's really just too much of them and there is much too much to do.

Singing: My lessons are going well. And by that, I mean the one lesson I've had so far went well. I am singing in the voice department recital THIS MONDAY. Once a month the entire voice department, including intimidating grad students and all of the voice faculty, convene in Britton Recital Hall for a "vocal arts lab", the name of which is now the "Voice Department Recital." A few students from each studio, roughly, perform for the rest of the students and faculty in the department. fsdajlkajvdjuhgajsklaewyrt. That's what I think of doing that. My professor asked me to sing so I, of course, can't wimp out and not do it. Instead, I get to freak out for four days about it. Hopefully I won't make a complete fool of myself in front of the entire school. That'd be really nice.

My house: It is great! It's a little yellow house with a good-sized front porch. I have my own room that is freaking freezing right now. Our refrigerator is leaking and they tell us it's because we have too much stuff in our freezer. However, we've rearranged things and moved stuff to our basement fridge, but it's still leaking! Other than little things, though, the house is really good. I love all of my housemates which is a big plus. Those of you who know me will know that I am loving playing the mom role. I cook and clean and everything. I even made my mother's gravy, known as "spaghetti sauce" to all of you non American-Italians, and it's...well, it's not as good as my mother's but it's not bad for my first try!

Today's the first day in a while that I don't have class or work until at the earliest 6pm and it is quite wonderful. I'll be able to get my crap done at a reasonable time and then I'll be able to relax for the rest of the evening. You know what I find weird? When you use the future tense in french, everything is in the future. So if I were to directly translate the phrase "I'll be able to drive when I am 16" from french, it would be "I will be able to drive when I will be sixteen." Funny.

I miss you all. How are your lives going? I've update, so now I expect you to, as well!

Much love!

I am slowly falling out of love with Project

I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but it is most definitely a thing. It's turning into a social club, rather than a musical group and I can almost 100% GUARANTEE you that I will never be the group coordinator again.

Not that any of you really care, but I'm really upset about it so I thought I'd vent on here.

I haven't been posting not because my life is horribly boring, but because it's finals and I've been busy packing, studying, spending time in the beautiful weather, and recording for amazin' blue.
I just saw that benedryl (or is it claritin?...I can't remember, I get my allergy medicines confused.) commercial where the girl has itchy eyes and she awkwardly rubs them at the beginning. I don't know why, but I really hate watching her rub her eyes. She doesn't really rub them, it's more like she casually pokes at them in an awkward manner. I really don't like it.

But on second thought, my life really is kind of boring. I haven't been to crazy wooded concerts, made friends with hippies, gotten drunk dressed like an 80s girl, or made matzo brei, but I've managed. On the bright side, I was elected president of our collegiate chapter of Music Educators National Conference for next year. It means that I get to run the whole organization and I'm very excited. We had our first executive board meeting last week and I think it went really well- hopefully I'll be a good president!

It's finals week here and I move home on wednesday! Classes ended on the 21st, and I haven't had a single final yet. Everything I have to do is this tuesday and it feels like a huge day of impending doom. I have a musicology final at 8:00am, followed by a "jury" in which I have to sing two contrasting pieces for the voice faculty, and then a conducting final at 4:00pm. Kind of a light load, but I don't feel I've prepared as much as I need to yet. Ah, well, we'll see how it goes.

I've also been recording for Amazin' Blue which has been fun. We spent all day friday trying to sound like mariah carey for "always be my baby." It's really a problem that we are blatantly white and incapable of putting "soul" into our singing. My dad said we should be called "Amazin' White"- that's how bad it is. Maybe we can change that next term after elections.

It's only 11:49pm, but I think I may go to bed soon. I know, lame. Hopefully this summer will add some excitement to my life.

:)
